For Belinda Canton of Oxford Edge, that means helping clients understand what the numbers mean, not just sending them a list of digits.
Belinda has three decades of experience in accountancy in Christchurch. During that time she has worked with a lot of businesses, many of whom are still clients today.
Oxford Edge is not a traditional type of accountancy firm. Business intelligence experts rather than just accountants, they pride themselves on being at the forefront of strategy, advice and leadership. ‘Doing the books’, or preparing a set of financial accounts, is part of the service but not the main focus.
With this non-traditional approach comes a shift in the kinds of people that Oxford Edge is seeking to recruit. This is particularly so in Belinda’s area of speciality of forensic accounting. People with a banking, auditing or legal background are just as likely to have the necessary inquiring, analytical mind that would thrive in this environment.
As a CA Forensic Accounting Specialist, Belinda becomes involved in everything from investigations to appearing in court as an expert witness. The huge variety means every day brings something a bit different.
