The best career path isn’t always a straight line – Olivia Flyger, OE’s newest recruit, has proved that.
Determined to combine having a career and raising her family, Olivia went to university and gained a Bachelor of Commerce before honing her skills in a range of roles and industries.
These included stints at international and local financial and commercial advisory firms, and finance manager at a large retailer.
That solid experience combined with grit and determination is what shone through for the recruitment team at OE. Olivia’s role is Client Manager assisting the Directors at OE and her goal is to one day be a director. At OE she sees that as attainable, whereas at other firms she has found there are no steps leading from the workstation to the boardroom table.
OE is not a traditional type of accountancy firm. Business intelligence experts rather than just accountants, we pride ourselves on being at the forefront of strategy, advice and leadership. ‘Doing the books’, or preparing a set of financial accounts, is part of the service but not the main focus.
“In bigger firms,” Olivia says, “it is easy to get pigeon-holed into particular roles. Here, I’ve got opportunities to be involved and help our clients across a range of specialties.”
Olivia has a wide range of skills and experience. She is particularly strong in business valuations and sales and acquisitions in the retail, transport, health and not-for-profit sectors.
Olivia values strong client relationships. Her portfolio of abilities – from supporting a start-up to helping a business expand all the way through to preparing a business for sale – makes her ideal for her role with us.
